Summer Intensive
2012 Summer Intensive Dates: August 13-31

Manhattan Youth Ballet offers a comprehensive summer intensive for serious dancers, ages 8 & older. 

MYB’s Summer Intensive focuses on clean, classical ballet technique and performance artistry.  All classes and performances take place in our state-of-the-art dance facilities at Manhattan Movement & Arts Center (mmac).
Manhattan Youth Ballet’s Summer Intensive is designed to polish individuals’ technique through daily classes and further develop each dancer’s artistry through repertoire rehearsals and classes in other techniques.
Every level will receive daily technique classes and pointe (pre-pointe for younger students) as well as Pilates conditioning and Jazz at least once a week.  More advanced levels will have supplemental classes such as character, contemporary and pas de deux. 
Dedicated Men’s class will be offered at least 3 times a week. 
Students enrolled for the FULL three-week performance program will have afternoon repertoire each day in preparation for the final performance in the state-of-the-art mmac theater.

Please Note:
Supervised housing is NOT provided during the Manhattan Youth Ballet Summer Intensive.  However, we can provide participants with a list of housing options that can be used as a resource when searching for housing in New York City.

     Winter Workshop
SUMMER INTENSIVE
AUDITION
Sunday, March 4th, 2012
Registration Starts at 1 pm
   Winter Workshop is a week-long intensive preparing students to perform in the Spring Performance at the end of March.  The Workshop is more than simply another opportunity to perform...Students will learn classical repertoire and have new choreography set on them as though they are a company.  As always we will present a piece by the great George Balanchine as well as our Choreographer-in-Residence, Brian Reeder!  This provides our students with a chance to further develop technique and artistry in an intensive setting.  In addition to the participation in the week-long workshop, additional weekend rehearsals will be required throughout the spring semester. 

   This is truly a one of a kind opportunity afforded to only MYB students as a chance to take class, rehearse and perform on a higher level that is not offered by other schools.  Winter Workshop will be held December 19th-December 23rd. The cost to participate is $350.  There will be an additional costume fee of $50 to offset the cost of costume construction and cleaning.
